Feeling the Pinch – Insurance Firms Raise Prices
As with any business, caps on the prices of products are only maintained to remain competitive and with the recession biting hard, seems everyone is affected. Insurance firms have now started to recoup losses from past years by raising prices of their products and the customers are literally paying the price. Life may be hard but they have no choice for the recent rash of disasters has left them with a lot of lost income so they decide to inform customers of higher prices for their home insurance packages should they feel the need to renew them.
Many people are barely making their mortgage payments and with this, they are again taxed upon to shell out cash for the protection offered by home insurance. Lack of coverage can mean huge losses in terms of damage suffered form storms and other natural disasters like hurricanes, floods and fire. Crime rates are also on the rise due to a huge increase in jobless people who turn to the knife to finance their needs. The recession is expected to last till this year but full recovery might take longer, just hope proper legislation gets help fast to homeowners who risk everything without protection of home insurance.
